Ceramic Tile Christmas Coasters - Traditional and Whimsical

Hello all! I have been working feverishly on all things Christmas - it seems too early to be doing so but i know the holidays will sneak up on me before I know it! I wanted to take a moment to share two new sets of coasters that I have developed for the holidays :) The first set is more traditional - deep reds and greens with images of Christmas trees and Santa Claus. The second set is a bit more whimsical - pinks, blues and oranges along with more dainty prints of snowflakes and snowmen.

All of my ceramic tile coasters are made with the same method - first, I find and recycle plain white ceramic tiles. Second, there is a great scrapbook store here in Orlando where I can find really unique and fun paper :) So I pick out a few pieces to make a set and cut out 4"x4" squares with my handy dandy zig-zaggy scissors. Third, I place the paper on the tile and apply 4 or so layers of mod podge and after that has all dried, I slap on a few layers of polyurethane to keep the coaster nice and protected from your drink! So if the polyurethane was step four, step five is painting the edges of the coaster - it is an unfinished tile when I get it so I just put some white paint on the edges to make it look a bit more finished. Lastly, I glue a piece of felt to the back and voila - a finished coaster!

Handpainted Cherry Blossom Toasting Flutes

I am happy to say that Mootinis has been booming! This past week I created a beautiful set of toasting flutes for a Bride and Groom - designed to complement their wedding invitations, the blossoms were painted in opaline pink and fuschia with mummy brown branches and lettering. I love how they turned out and will be offering them soon on my website and Etsy page.

Unique Handpainted Wedding Centerpieces

For the past couple of months I have been working on offering wedding centerpieces - I played around with a few different ideas and ultimately came up with the pictures you see above :) I am very excited about these centerpieces as I feel that brides are always looking for special touches that will make their wedding decor stand out from other weddings. As with all of Mootinis' glassware, the centerpieces are 100% customizable - the sprinkles can be made to match wedding colors - a beautiful complement to reception tables. Although the monogram is only shown on the rectangular centerpiece, it can also be added to the cylinder as well!

Union Street Glass - Morph Collection Pendants

I am in LOVE with these pendant lights found on Luxe and Liberty's site! Luxe and Liberty is a company started by a good friend of mine who has truly impeccable taste. Everything at Luxe and Liberty is made in the USA so you can pat yourself on the back for shopping "local". :) Union Street Glass is made in Richmond, CA - these pendant lights are part of the Morph Collection and are handblown in so each is unique in shape and color. Absolutely fantastic.

Cocktail Recipe Prints

As a designer, I love Etsy because everything is handmade - so I am guaranteed to find not only items that are made with care and attention to detail, but also items that are unique and one of a kind. The above prints are 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" and can be found in Smileshop's Etsy shop. This is such a creative way to share a cocktail recipe and would look fantastic framed in your kitchen!

Unique Father's Day Gift - Handpainted Pilsners!

I am very excited to share Mootinis' Father's Day Pilsners!  I created 4 pilsners with designs that I thought would appeal to the men in our lives - this would be a perfect gift not only for fathers but also for husbands, brothers, boyfriends, grandfathers, you name it!  These first four are on display at Cottage Industry - let's see how they do!  If they are popular and generate some buzz, I would love to work on more.  The great thing about the college pilsners is that I can do ANY college, high school, club team, etc. - and being handpainted, they are definitely one of a kind!

Welcome!

Hi everyone! My name is Marlie Arnold and I am the Owner/Creator of Mootinis Handpainted Glassware and Gifts. I decided to start a blog at the suggestion of a good friend of mine, Michele Davis-Lowery. Check out her amazing wedding invitations at Blush Paperie! I hope to use this blog not only to get Mootinis’ name out there but also to keep abreast of other creative and unique products!

Mootinis is proud to announce a Spring revival in our website! Check it out at www.mootinis.com! All of our new Spring and Summer glassware is up and I’m extremely excited about it. The main focus of the website update was to re-introduce Mootinis in 3 main areas of design and focus – Wedding, Baby and Everyday Designs. Wedding designs include personalized balloon wine and modern mugs for wedding parties as well as unique toasting flute sets. Mootinis Baby focuses on our fun and unique Mootles! Mootles are glass baby bottles designed with pink or blue polka dots, frogs or ducks. I love Mootles as baby shower gifts! Mootinis’ Everyday Designs have been our bread and butter! You can now choose from 6 different glass types – wine, martini, margarita, flute, hi-balls and tumblers. Each glass type comes with their own set of design options such as ladybugs, dragonflies, polka dots, city skyline and the very popular summer sprinkles. Check out Mootinis now!
